Over Christmas break I did a drawing of my son reading Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, one of my personal favorites. I was trying to finish up the pages in my sketchbook as the deadline for the Sketchbook Project was rapidly approaching. I liked the pose, so I also took a photograph of him and did this pastel after he returned to school. What better way to cultivate the mind than through reading.
