My husband and I went skating last weekend for the first time this winter. We had to shovel off a thin layer of snow on our neighbor's pond that is situated behind the barn on his dairy farm. The cows watched us as we worked. There's always that initial adjustment to keeping your balance and it's hard not to feel "clumsy". The ice froze clear so that when you looked down you could see all the leaves and sticks that had been floating in the water.
